NMU's Tyquan Cox Named GLIAC Player Of Week
MARQUETTE---Freshman Tyquan Cox has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Cox earned the award after a standout performance that saw him answer a Wayne State University touchdown with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown in the first quarter of Saturday's game.
He finished the game with three returns for a total of 145 yards. He made such an impact early in the game, the Warriors stopped kicking the ball deep and settled for short kicks to reduce his chances of another return.
For his first season as a Wildcat, Cox has nine returns for 258 yards.
This is the second-straight season NMU earned Player of the Week honors after playing Wayne State. Last season, NMU earned Defensive Player of the Week honors when current sophomore Anthony Ladd (Columbus, Ohio) earned the award. The Wildcats will head to Michigan Technological University Saturday to play for the Miners Cup.
