COMEBACK KIDS: Braves Rally Past Mountaineers
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School volleyball team lost the first two sets before coming from behind to beat the Iron Mountain Mountaineers, 3-2, Thursday night in Gladstone. The scores were 26-28, 11-25, 25-20, 25-8, 15-6.
The match was Gladstone's annual "Volley For a Cure" match to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer programs in Delta County. The team was able to present a check f or $1,225 to Janet Martens, who is battling breast cancer and was picked as the recipient to help in her efforts to beat that disease.
A ceremony was held between the second and third sets, and the Braves were inspiried on the court, as they dominated the Mountaineers in the final three games.
Gladsone travels to Escanaba on Saturday for the all-day Elks Invitational.
