Former NMU Coach Rick Comley Gets Big Honor


MARQUETTE---Former Northern Michigan University Wildcat hockey head coach and staple in the Marquette community, Rick Comley was named the 2020 recipient of the Hobey Baker Legend of College Hockey award as announced by the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation Monday, March 9.
 

Coach Comley served at the helm of Northern Michigan University's hockey program from its inception until 2001-02. Over his 26-year tenure with the Wildcats, Comley amassed 538 wins and posted 18 winning seasons. He also led the team to their first NCAA title with an 8-7 triple-overtime victory over Boston University.
 

The NMU program will recognize its 1991 National Championship squad during their 2020-21 campaign when they host BU October 17-18.
