SAULT STE MARIE---The Escanaba High School hockey team scored four goals in the second period and pulled away from the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils, 6-2, Friday night in the Soo.

It was Escanaba's fifth straight win, and second against the Soo this season.

Captain Nick Kolich had two goals and Sawyer LaMarch added a goal and two assists for the Eskymos.

The Eskymos jumped to the lead just 1:05 into the game when the Blue Devils turned the puck over in front of goaltender Triston Forgrave and LaMarch put it home.

The Blue Devils tied the game on a Aaron Kogan goal, but with less than four minutes left in the period, Spencer Bourdeau got the puck in his own zone and threw a long pass to Kolich. Kolich raced in on goal and scored on the breakaway to make it 2-1.

Then early in the second period, Kolich split the defense and went to his backhhand, roofing home his second goal of the game 30 seconds into the second period to make it 3-1.

The Eskymos keep rolling as Bourdeau skated between the circles and threw it by goaltender Forgrave to make it 4-1.  Forgrave was lifted for freshman goaltdener Camden Labadie, but the Eskymos put two more pucks in the net before the end of the period.

First, senior Brayden Roberts scored his first Eskymo goal from a bad angle near the wall to make it 5-1. Then there was some LaMarch brotherly love. Sawyer LaMarch lost control of the puck but it bounceback off the goalie's pad, and fed it back for Jayger with a wide open net.

That made it 6-1 Eskymos.

The Blue Devils (4-5) scored the only goal of the third period on their Senior Night as freshman defenseman Jay Dunbar sniped one under the crossbar. But Eskymo goalie Dylan Ziemke was solid from there, and he ended up with 24 saves on 26 shots.

Escanaba (6-9) has 22 shots on the two Soo goalies.

The Eskymos have a quick turnaround on Saturday with two games in Kingsford to close the regular season. The first game starts at noon ET and the second game will face off at 5:00 ET.

Both will be broadcast live on FM-93.5, AM-600, and www.rrnsports.com.
