HARRIS---
The Bark River-Harris Broncos volleyball team scored the first 12 points of the match and rolled to a 3-0 win over the Menominee Maroons Tuesday night.

The scores were 25-5, 25-12, 25-22.

"We wanted to come out in our first home game and just prove something to the fans and prove to ourselves that after last year, being quarantined for two weeks, and just the ups and downs of last year, that we could still come out and play strong and have fun," Brocnos Coach Jen Ives said. "I think that's kind of in the back of the girls minds all the time, that this can be taken from us at any minute. They learned that last year. They're not going to take any game for granted."

BR-H senior Alaska Peterson started the match on a 12-0 service run.

"That was great. I was glad all those (serves) were going over and we got a nice head start," Peterson said. "I'm just so glad to be back out on the court, with everything normal, and we came out reallu strong. Showed them how to start the season."

Menominee was overmatched all night long, but showed some pride in the third game after falling behind 18-9. The Maroons rallied to within 21-19, prompting Ives to call a time out. The Broncos finally put it away moments later.

"We had a rough start. First game jitters," Maroons Coach Sarah Betzinger said. "We had a little different rotation from what we'll run for the season. A couple girls not here. But the girls stepped up (in the third game). They just realxed and realized that they can play better than they had been. They started covering better, better passes, and they started sending the ball deeper, and keeping it off the net a little bit more. They started working with each other more."

The BR-H offense was led by a dominating performance from seniors Carley Varoni and Aspen Fredrick, in particular in the first game.

The Brocnos serving was nearly flawlessas well, with no service aces and no service errors. Ives says playing without masks is a big part of that.

"When we had masks on, that was really tough because it took away a big percentage of our game," Ives said. "We have a big communication game. When our communication is up, our energy is up. The girls know that the louder they are, the more they're talking to each other, the better they play."

"I think we're going to go far," Peterson said. "We are really excited, and I know we have a good team."
