The Bay College Norse baseball team won two games and lost two games this weekend against the Delta College Pioneers from Saginaw.

Delta College won Saturday's opener, 5-3, before the Norse rallied to win the nightcap, 5-4.

Dante Sartorelli hit a three-run homer for Bay, and Grant Craft got the save by pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

On Sunday, the Norse made three errors in the first inning and never recovered, losing, 6-1. The Norse bounced back to win the nightcap, 6-0, as Dalton Graham pitched six scoreless innings. Craft came on to throw a scoreless seventh inning.

"The big thing with these fall scrimmages is putting our guys into game-like situations and experience a college atmosphere," Pankow said. "It's something we didn't have last year with all of the Covid restrictions. This is vitally important to our team to learn and develop and to grow."

It's the second time the Norse went 2-2 on a weekend this fall, after doing the same last month during games with Hibbing (Minn.) Community College and Northland (Wis.) College.

Two big highlights this weekend were the pitching of Graham (Sault Ste. Marie) on Sunday and the three-run shot by Sartorelli (Menominee) on Saturday.

"I told Dalton that might be the best game he's pitched as a college athlete," Pankow said. "Our pitching staff as a whole has matured greatly since last year. And Dante has matured greatly since last year. He's had a much more intelligent approach at the plate."
