ESCANABA---
Bon LaChance hit a pair of home runs Wednesday as the Escanaba Eskymos swpt a baseball doubleheader from the Neguanee Miners, 6-5 and 6-1, at Al Ness Field.

It was a rare night of clearning the fence for anyone at this park, where the wind often blows in and the field plays much larger than the 340 (center) and 320 (down the lines) dimensions.

"I've hit too many off the fence here," said LaChance, a senior who has commutted to play college baseball at Bay College this fall. "But we needed a win. We had a four-game losing streak. We hit the ball well today."

No moreso than LaChance, who also had an RBI double off the center field fence to go along with his two home runs.

"What a good ballplayer," Negaunee Manager Jason Siik said. "He crushed the ball on us. As the games went on, we defibitely had the discussion of pitching around him. But we didn't get that opportunity. I thought we played really good baseball tonight. But, those two innings, he crushed the ball and got us."

LaChance smacked an RBI double in the first inning to put the Eskymos on the board in the first inning of the opener, and then started a four-run rally with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Eskymos were trailing in the game, 5-1.

In the second game, LaChance's three-run homer in a four-run third inning helped to turn a 2-1 Eskymo lead into a 6-1 game. The Miners never recovered from those shots.
