Eskymos Win Tune-Up Game Over SC Cougars, 8-1

The Escanaba High School baseball team scored eight runs in the second inning and cruised past the Superior Central Cougars, 8-1, Monday night at Al Ness Field.

The Eskymos turned three double plays on defense and Nick Chiu and Ashton Rymkos combined to throw a one-hitter in the seven-inning game.

Mikaiden Hughes had a two-run double, and Bon LaChance followed with an RBI double as part of that big inning. Brody Ison also contributed a pop fly two-run single.

Logan Frusti had the only base hit of the game for Superior Central.

Chiu threw the first three innings for Escanaba, allowing one hit. Rymkos tossed the final four innings, allowing no hits, walking four, and striking out three.

Superior Central used four pitchers: Trent Rutter, Blake Walther, Bradly VanDamme, and Jason Kanerva.
