Marquette Soccer Team Rolls To Three More Wins

ALPENA---
The Marquette Senior High School boys soccer team shut out three opponents on Saturday at a tournament in Alpena, after also dominating a tournament down in Suttons Bay the previous weekend.

This weekend, the Sentinels blanked Grayling, 4-0, Roscommon, 4-0, and Gladwin, 5-0.

“It was a great weekend of team play for us. We achieved all of our offensive and defensive goals," MSHS Coach Dan Salmon said. "Henry Wood turned in an exceptional performance as well as Indigo Catalano and Dylan Deneau at inside defense. Grayling was undefeated coming into our game and we were excited to showcase what we could do on the pitch against them.”
 
Marquette is 11-2-2 on the year and host Iron Mountain on Tuesday.

SUTTONS BAY TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Last weekend, on September 13-14, Marquette was also in action below the Bridge and played at a tournament in Suttons Bay. The Sentinels won two and tied one match in that event.

9-13 vs Traverse City St. Francis. Game tied 1-1

“We challenged our defense to step up their game and they did today," Salmon said. "Traverse City is a top ranked team and we showed we can run with them. This game could have gone either way, but we were content with a tie.”

“Our team played three good games today in the hot weather," Salmon said. "We were able to utilize all the players on the team, getting lots of valuable reps. Our captain Kaleb Chipelewski really led the way in the final game. He set the tone and the rest of the team followed.”
